Vermont State Police Offer Winter Driving Tips

As with any Winter Storm they create slippery roads across the state,
state police issued tips for drivers forced to drive in the storm.

Keep a greater distance than normal between vehicles.
Check vehicles for proper tires.
Make sure car has full tank of gas before heading out in storm.
Make sure vehicle is equipped with an ice scraper, snow brush,
working wipers and windshield wiper fluid.
Keep a charged cell phone and snow shovel in car
Remain aware of exact location in case of an emergency
Try to use major roads for travel.

Let someone know your route of travel and estimated time of arrival.
The use of headlights is required by law during times of limited visibility
If involved in a crash, and capable of doing so, move vehicle to side of
roadway.
